Overview
Challenge
With medical necessity expediting the timeline, the cart project held several additional challenges: minimize hospital staff interaction with patients, engineer carts to fit multiple sized robots, and only final products-no demos-were to be shipped internationally to the Asian government entity for immediate implementation.
Solution
Develop laser cut carts allowing for precise fitting to multiple sized autonomous vehicles. Special considerations for the design engineering of the cart were taken by sourcing elements from Australia (specialty casters) and China (wire). Carts were pre-assembled to allow for immediate functionality upon arrival where they carried crucial medications, PPE, and medical supplies to patients.
Design to doorstep, inside of four weeks, the government was able to receive and utilize these autonomous specialty carts enabling hospital staff to work more safely by minimizing interactions with infected and recovering patients.
