Not only did the workstation need to be stable, but it also needed to support test processing end-to-end without a technician leaving the station.

Overview

A state of the art pharmaceutical lab needed custom designed workstations for processing lab samples and tests in a clean room environment.

Challenge

Each workstation had to accommodate four centrifuges-which require extreme stability. The centrifuges would apply centrifugal force to the test tube contents in order to separate solids and fluids of different densities. Not only did the workstation need to be stable, but it also needed to support test processing end-to-end without a technician leaving the station. With this in mind, the workstation also had to allow for technician’s comfort over expended periods.

Solution

The design team took into consideration the all-in-one workstation elements of comfort, stability, and rigidity to develop the solution. The final design and manufactured product contained overhead shelving, a table mounted bio trash bin, and high gauge stainless steel cross sections with large diameter legs. The later eliminated any movement of the table from the centrifuges vibrations ensuring quality and accuracy in tests and safety for the lab technicians.
