Overview
Challenge
The mining equipment had no standard for lockers or cabinets. Using their own mining manufacturing processes as reference (developed for extremely large equipment), the company created their own iteration of designs. Their initial drawings and sourcing were high cost.
Additionally, the end products were to be shipped world-wide, and no shipping containers existed to fit and protect the product specifications for such long distance.
Solution
Streamline manufacturing processes and reduce costs by value engineering the initial designs. To do this, a tight partnership design team was formed between Lakeside and the mining company’s engineers.
To fully protect the shipments of custom lockers and cabinets, custom sized crates were developed for overseas transport. Not only did the partnership enable the design and production timeline and budget to be reduced, but Lakeside has become a long term partner scaling up production for years with the company.
Post-project, Lakeside has also begun contract manufacturing other parts for their mining equipment.
