Overview
In anticipation of a nationwide food release roll-out, a retail grocery setting required 200 demonstration carts. Carts would be used for food prep, food demos, as well as appliance and serving ware storage.
Challenge
Amidst the start of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, all 200 carts were on a 60 day “no fail” deadline from purchase order to sourcing to manufacturing to delivery.
To meet food-grade and display needs, several different types of materials were required for sourcing and production: stainless steel, laminate, retractable aluminum, and plastic.
Additionally, the carts required custom signage and the capacity to hold over 20 different food preparation tools, all while staying within a restrictive store footprint.
Solution
To pace production, a successful schedule was set for 33 carts to be produced and delivered per week over a six week period.
